James Brown aint dead, he came back as a soul sista!

Just got back from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and let me tell you my soul feels cleansed. So much energy, so much get up, so much get down. Just plain FUNK. If you ever get the opportunity to see this act, jump on it. A good ol' soul revival. She has a new album titled 100 days, 100 nights. Check it out, I know you'll love it. Then you too will be dap-dippin' in no time.

An Idiot's Look at the Idiot Box

Due to the recent demise of the good ol' boob tube. I have come up with my list of the top 5 loveable losers of the small screen.

5. Paul Pfeiffer(The Wonder Years)- The guy every kid wants as a best friend. Caring, loyal and most off all just weird enough to make your own adolescent awkwardness look good.

4. Cliff Clavin(Cheers)- The quintessential know-it-all. Filled with useless facts and trivia, which most people ignored anyways. He was socially inept when it came to women, except his mother whom he lived with well into his 40's.

3.(Tie) Larry David(Curb Your Enthusiasm) George Costanza(Seinfeld)- Basically the same character, Costanza was based on Larry David himself, as much as he hates to admit when people refer to George as a yutz, putz or schmuck. They are always stuck in embarrassing predicaments but always seem to escape with a few shreds of dignity.

2.David Brent(The Office)- The "cool" boss. His jokes are terrible as are his perceptions of the people in his company. He thinks he's being a buddy or a mentor when really he's just intolerable and embarrassing to those around him.

1.John McGuirk(Home Movies)- An elementary school soccer coach who hates kids. He is always giving the kids horrible advice even if they don't really ask for it. Coach McGuirk is bit of all the previously mentioned characters rolled into one.

Music to die for

U.K. newspaper The Guardian has recently published a 5 part series of the 1000 albums to hear before you die. It's a good read and the whole list is alphabetized to make it easy to browse through. However I do disagree with The Guardian's choosing of Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run over Born in the USA ,but either one is a classic. Another glaring omission is Huey Lewis and the News' Sports. Must've been number 1001.
